Sophie Calle - Detective 2

I found psychogeography very fascinating and to go hand in hand with the idea of the Flaneur as the both of them take you out on the streets and they both make the artist, the photographer an observer, a voyeur.

The flaneur is a person who undertakes a derive ( a non – direct wander or walk ) – the flaneur simply wanders and experiences the “spirit of the place” – which is, or at least was, an essential element of psychogeography. The distinction between the two, I think, has emerged more recently, as psychogeography and psychogeographic walks are now typically much more planned and structured than in the past.
